Mailouts
14/09/2005
It’s that time of the week again. Well OK, I admit that I am a teensy bit late. To be honest I forgot what day it was. Probably a bit like Freddie Flintoff.
What a legend!
Anyway the eight new games are sitting around waiting for you lot come and viciously prod their drop down boxes. This week you get to choose from the likes of Charlton, West Brom, Hull, Milton Keynes and Grimsby.
So, let’s see if scoring has picked up at all last week:
1 – Cumbo – Div26 – 1100
---------------------------------------
2 – del – Div10 – 1000
---------------------------------------
3 - santini spurs – Div16 - 900
4 – jollyoldm – Div3 - 900
5 - glenn468008 – Div23 - 900
6 - Avid is Warm – Div4 - 900
7 – claretchris – Div19 - 900
8 – Ade – Div8 – 900
---------------------------------------
Ah. That would be a no then. Congrats to Cumbo for beating all comers, 1100pts has somehow managed to become this season’s benchmark score, so well done... but I would really like to see the more usual scores of 1500pts soon.
Now for a quick announcement:
Fanfare, drum roll... It’s that time, ladies and gentlemen, that you’ve all waiting for! That’s right it’s the return of the FPL Cup! Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhh, woooohooo etc.
Seriously, the cup is very popular. For those who haven’t seen it before let me quickly explain.
First you need to sign up, so go to the games section, then follow the FPL Cup link. From there click join – simple!
Once the joining period ends all the subscribed players are entered into a big draw. This draw randomly pits user against user – regardless of which league you are in.
What happens then is that just ONE match is given to everybody to predict on. Like with all predictions in UKfpl you have to predict what the final score of the match will be. Likewise for the person who has been pitted against you. Then it’s simply who predicts best, goes through to the next round!
“Ahh but what if we both predict the same?” you cry. Well there is also a tiebreaker question. Under the match prediction you will also find an option to estimate the attendance for the match. In the event of a tie, the person who most closely predicts the attendance will be the one who goes through to the next round.
The tournament carries on every week until we are down to the last pairing, who face off in the final to claim their FPL Cup - of course there is no actual cup, it is us after all ;O)
The first draw for the Cup is due to take place on the 24 September, but you have to register first – which will be open to all for the 19th. Good Luck!
I was wondering how Rod Murrell’s Arctic Monkeys are managing to dominate the Fantasy League by 20pts with a team that includes David James. Then I saw the jammy get had bought Bent – no not Everton goal machine Marcus – but Darren, the Charlton sensation. (So obviously this seasons Dean Sturridge/Julian Joachim.)
Anyway I’ll leave you to it now. I’m off on holiday in Ireland next week (come on! the Guinness tour!), so I’m just letting Richy know now that he’s doing the mailshot next week!
He he
See you in 2 weeks

(I hope that’s not as confusing as I think it could be)
